The Ageless Traveler--Stately Homes of England, New UK Walking Route, Online Courses at Oxford, Airline News You Won’t Like, Travel Health Challenge

Dear Ageless Traveler,

I’m feeling the need for more face-to-face contact. I spend so much time at Zoom meetings that I wonder what a human being looks like from the waist down. How about you? Is it time for more human contact? I have a great idea we can pursue together!

Let’s explore travel coaching. It’s a perfect way to meet people, make money, and feed your desire to help people travel. As a Travel Coach, clients rely on you to help them select the best trips. I am recruiting for the first Ageless Traveler Coaching Consortium through the renowned organization, The Travel Coach Network. Travel coaching helps you defray travel costs, earn extra dollars, and even build a large future income stream after retirement or well before.

Put yourself on the list to attend my FREE June webinar "Travel Coaching for The Mature Traveler: Make Money, Travel More, Inspire Others." My special guest is Sahara Rose De Vore, Founder and CEO of The Travel Coach Network. The webinar will guide you through The Travel Coach Certification Program, the world's first and only ICF-accredited program designed to help folks use travel as a tool for healing, self-discovery, transformation, wellness, reaching life goals, and have FUN!

On our usual segments, we continue of focus on England and more:

Be an insider at the homes on which Downton Abbey and Bridgerton are based. The Viscountess offers four-day sojourns at these homes, hosted by the royals who own them. Put on your gown and black tie and listen to the truth behind such grand living.

Never stop traveling

Cheers,

Adriane

P.S. Airlines are charging much more for your luggage. Here are two workarounds:

#1. Bypass the airline. Check out our discounts on Luggage Free, which ships your luggage to cruise ships, guest houses, or any destination.

Or #2. pack light with Tripped… my favorite packing cases that turn carry-ons into giant suitcases.

P.P.S. Something New:

If Africa or Morocco has been whispering your name, don’t ignore it. I’m personally curating two extraordinary journeys—one to Kenya with Ronick Tours and one to Morocco with Sahari Tours—designed specifically for Ageless Travelers who want depth, comfort, and a little magic.

Spots will be very limited. If you even have a flicker of interest, reply here and write or say “AFRICA” or “MOROCCO.” I’ll send you dates, pricing, and first access before we open this publicly.

Ask Adriane

Full disclosure—I asked my own question.

I want to challenge myself to get in better shape. I searched for something motivating

I just signed up for Superage Games.

News You Can Use

Older airline passengers were identified as a safety hazard. A recent study rang an alarm that may spark a backlash against older travelers. The study found that “elderly” passengers slowed down the evacuation process. Although the lead researcher, Dr. Zhang, admitted that the dual-engine fire scenario on which the study is based is “statistically rare,” he urged, “airlines (to) proactively mitigate risks.”

With elderly passengers dubbed a safety risk, what will “proactively mitigate” mean? … A special briefing, a limitation on older passengers, assigned seats (airlines are not required to allow you to select a specific seat), or let us fly only on selected flights? …Time will tell.

New premium airline seats; Just in from London, luxury travelers take heart. Air France-KLM has a new premium aircraft with extra first-class seats; one plane has premium seats that stretch all the way to the back of the wing.

New African Travel Destinations: Some of you tell me, “I’ve been everywhere.” How about Sub-Saharan Africa? Hilton announced the signing of 29 hotel deals in 2025 across 15 countries in Africa, with plans to open more than 100 hotels on the continent, over half of which will be in Sub-Saharan Africa. We will have reports on safety and tourism opportunities. If this works for The Ageless Traveler, it can open a new destination for us all.

Visa Bonds:The State Department has expanded its “visa bond” program to 50 countries. The visa bond program adds a security deposit to the standard visa fee applied to both business and tourist visas. There is a more intense interview “examining the applicant’s economic and social ties to their home country, their stated reasons for US travel, the assessed risk of overstaying, and their previous travel history to the United States or any immigration violations.” Bonds range from $5,000 to $15,000.

Culture Vulturing Around the World

Ever wanted to study at Oxford? You can do so online. Oxford online learning includes a 10-week course that explores the culture of the English country house, its architectural forms, furnishings, and artistic manifestations of taste as an expression of power and influence.

LEARN FOR PLEASURE offers an online course for 150 British pounds; registration starts 20th April 2026, and the course begins 21st September 2026 and lasts 12 weeks. It covers the impact of the Grand Tour on today’s travel, and all you ever wanted to know about Tudor, Victorian, landscapes, and the mixed fortunes of the English country house.

TIP—If you would like to read the books assigned for these courses, check out:

Girouard, M (1993) Life in the English Country House: A Social and Architectural History, Yale University Press. Paperback.

Wilson, R., and Mackley, A (2006). The Building of the English Country House, 1660–1880, Hambledon Continuum.

Luxury Travel for Less

The world’s longest-ever managed coastal hiking route just officially opened. The King Charles III England Coast Path stretches 2,689 miles around Britain’s perimeter. The trail is divided into sections, making it doable in pieces. I walked the last section, and it was memorable.

#1. Start at the Scottish border to see Bamburgh Castle overlooking a windswept beach, the storybook charm of Whitby, and the spectacle of seabird colonies at Bempton Cliffs, where puffins and gannets put on a show.

#2. Move south to pass seaside towns like Skegness before reaching East Anglia’s wild coastline. At Horsey Gap and Donna Nook, thousands of Atlantic gray seals gather each autumn to give birth. Keep going to the seaside pleasures of Whitstable (bring your appetite for oysters), the artsy revival of Margate, and the jaw-dropping sweep of the White Cliffs of Dover before landing in Brighton for antiquing.

#3. Then comes the grand finale: England’s southwestern edge. I did this… don’t look down! The path hugs the cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, where you can hunt for fossils before curving into Cornwall’s wild beauty. Here you’ll find the breathtaking Minack Theatre carved into the rocks and the tidal wonder of St. Michael’s Mount, reachable on foot only when the sea cooperates.

Here’s a must-do tip from one of the outstanding members of the Age Wise Collective to which I belong:

Join gerontologist Sally Duplantier for Wellness Wednesdays to learn practical, evidence-based ways to support healthy aging.

These programs are free to The Ageless Travelers and are also recorded in case you can’t attend in real time.

Dear Ageless Traveler, Welcome to The Ageless Traveler's Almost Mother's Day issue! Happy Mother's Day to you all. My Mom and Aunt brought me up, so I know that every woman is a mother figure to someone. Every Mother, and, for that matter, every person, has a brand, a part of their personality that comes through no matter where and no matter when, at every age. As the travel saying goes, “Wherever you go, there you are.” My mother’s brand was “You deserve it.” She wanted everyone to realize...

Dear Ageless Traveler, I’ve been reflecting on how much I love travel and what it's done for me at different stages of my life. When I was a child, travel opened my eyes to the big world. In my teens, I learned to be independent and adventurous. In my mature years, travel has given me better health, greater self-confidence, and a chance to contribute. I believe that travel is more than a vacation. That’s why I ask you to please attend my FREE June webinar, "Travel Coaching for The Mature...
